4 Digital Product Learning Paths

People Are Asking ...

CSDM product manager Mark Bodman and I brought the Digital Product concept to the IT4IT™ 3 Standard.

This is the same Digital Product found in Mark's CSDM v5 roadmap.

This is a new idea for a lot of people. Others use the term Digital Product, but not in the same service-focused way that we do.

Understanding the Digital Product concept is important for users of the ServiceNow CSDM, many OpenText software tools, and other environments that make use of the IT4IT™ Reference Architecture.

Four Digital Product Learning Paths

What are your Digital Product learning paths if you're new to this concept? How might this "Digital Product" concept impact your work and career? And what is the CSDM-IT4IT connection?

Here are four paths to better understanding that may help.

  • Watch the video interview about the intimate connection between CSDM and IT4IT.
  • Sign up to be first to find out when our new Digital Product Portfolio Management training is released - including a free short course.
  • Go online for a free read of the full IT4IT Standard, published by The Open Group.
  • Consider our full IT4IT 3 Foundation certification training, accredited by The Open Group.

The CSDM-IT4IT Digital Product Entanglement

This interview with Mark Bodman explores the evolving IT4IT-CSDM relationship.

We continue to develop the Digital Product concept for use in our day jobs, and hope to share it more broadly in future IT4IT work.

This video includes some of our next-gen thinking including clarification and extension of the Digital Product Portfolio Management (DPPM) concept, and how it impacts CSDM directions.

Learn About the IT4IT Standard, Free Online

Read the entire IT4IT Standard, freely available online.

This is a full-context architectural explanation of the way "Digital Product" is used on our work.

Benefits: Free, completely self-paced, mostly up to date.

It places Digital Product in the context of a larger operating model for end-to-end management of product-centric IT.

Downside: This complex and abstract material addresses a broad span of activities including Financial Management, Enterprise Architecture, Governance, Customer Engagement, DevSecOps, ITOM and ITSM.

This can make the IT4IT standard hard going if your experience is focused on a specific operational area.

Consider IT4IT 3 Foundation Certification

Our accredited certification course places IT4IT ideas in a practical context while still covering all the exam requirements.

Benefits: The course packs a lot of detailed architecture information into 14 hours of training, which is great if that's what you're looking for.

It includes The Open Group exam voucher, which you need for certification.

Downside: The course packs a lot of detailed architecture information into 14 hours of training, which is a bit overwhelming for some.
